Fisher Price Little People -

Combining two things that I really like... Decorating cookies and Fisher Price toys. I reshaped a bear cookie cutter and made it look like the little people shape.

Skulls for Plush

I wanted to make cookies so I did skulls with flowers for Bobbi and the ladies at Plush Salon. Very "Ed Hardy".

Treat filled weekend-

We had a huge dinner at our house last night and Ashley is having a bash Sunday evening so I've been busy making treats.
I used the pumpkin cookies to decorate the pumpkin cakes I made.
I made bone cookies with my Wilton pan. The pretzels looked like bone marrow. Little bit creepier than I meant them to be but fun...
Used the leftover spice cake to make mini cake balls for Ashley's party.
And a few creepy monster cake balls for the kids.

Leftover icing-

Since I had so much green piping icing left I piped a bunch of leaves onto parchment paper and am letting them dry so that next time I need a few leaves I will have them.

Rustic Pumpkins

I didn't want the sections on my pumpkins to be smooth so I filled them with a thicker icing. Pretty pleased with these cuties. They are toppers for some large pumpkin spice cupcakes I'm making for a party. I will post a picture when those are done.

LPD cookies-

Our friend's son-in-law was accepted into the police academy. To celebrate she had me make some cookies. They are simple. It was pretty short notice. But so glad I could do it.

White Party-

Here are the white on white cookies for Ashley's party. First I iced them white. When they were dry to the very light touch, I sprayed them with Wilton Pearl spray. I let them dry overnight so they would be able to be stamped on. Then I simply traced over the stamped area with white piping icing, added pearls and done!

It's been too long...

I haven't had time for about 6 months now to do any cookie making. Finally all the demands on my spare time (sort of) are over. I told Ashley the other day that I would make cookies for her office "White" Party that they are having on Friday. Since she works for UNL the shape of Nebraska seemed appropriate. Since it is a white party they cookies will be frosted white and then a white design on them. But this blog isn't really about that it is about getting back into the groove of baking and decorating cookies. Failures and successes.
Failure #1: I forgot to put salt in the first batch of cookies...and I had cut out and baked them all...
Failure #2: While baking the saltless cookies...I turned off the timer but forgot the cookies in the oven...forget to set the timer...twice...
Failure #3: After discovering the omitted salt and starting on batch #2...I burned the white chocolate I was melting...twice...
Failure #4: I decided to get a jump on today by mixing up my Royal Icing last night...when I went to use it today I thought it looked pink and realized it was pink...bits of leftover red food coloring from the paddle on the mixer...

But now 98 cookies later. Batches 2-4 went well...icing batches 2&3 mixed up a perfect white. All cookies are iced and drying. Tomorrow I will stamp the design on them and pipe over it with white. Fingers crossed...

Chocolate Chip Cookies

I was given a cookie recipe, New York Times best chocolate chip. I have made them quite a few times. They have to chill for at least 24 hours and bake cold. This makes them hard to scoop. So...today I scooped them into a mini muffin tin THEN put them covered in the fridge until tomorrow.

High Heeled Cupcakes-

One day my niece, Erin, had a picture on her Facebook of some cupcake high heels. I decided to make some for Bobbi and the ladies at her new salon, Plush. I did have to create a cookie cutter for the shape of the sole of the shoe. Then I made sugar cookies with 3" Popsicle stick in the wide end to hold it in the cupcake. Then I attached a rolled wafer cookie to the bottom of that for the heel.

I probably would take the time next time to use royal icing on the cookie part and make the cupcakes higher somehow but I was pleased with how simple and cute they were when they were done.
For Valentine's Day I just made Red Velvet Sugar cookies and used cream cheese icing and just some of my sprinkles to decorate. I was tired and out of creativity.  But sometimes just doing that is so fun.

BeautiControl on every lip...

My friend, Angie, is a BeautiControl bigwig. She had a meeting last night and had asked me a couple weeks ago to make some cookies for that meeting. She wanted lips. So...

After they had dried, I sprayed them with a pearl glimmer spray.

Happy Baking,

Patti
